Sorry. No im not. I love these shorties
So silly, so cool. Not sure why. Maybe its because all I ever see is 4 door short beds. Maybe its because they would make for killer offroaders with their tiny wheelbases. I like em. I also think regular cab long beds are some of the strangest looking creatures out there.
especially the Tundra.
odd.

reminds me of the short-lived 747SP

Short cab, short bed looks far stranger to me than short cab, long bed. That’s the quintessential “pickup” in my mind.

Tundra looks as if it were designed as a 4-door short bed and then modified into an awkward bulbous 2-dr long bed.
But SWB Taco looks great.

I’m right there with you. My favorite trucks are either short and tall
Or long and low
I think it’s cause they exaggerate what each style would be best for. The short truck for offroading and the long truck for towing.

Modern cab proportions suck.

These short/short trucks looks down right weird to me. Like someone was bored in Photoshop. Myself, I’d like extended cab shortbeds. But extended cabs without 4 doors. Think like the S10 extended cab.

short, short bed truck.......

It just sucks that GM won’t sell the 1500's in a standard cab short bed with the 6.2L or a manual with any configuration of any motor.

I could get on board with this.

I think I like the strangeness of them. They look even better in person

given that you can have pickups in just about any configuration you want it does seem odd.

A RCSB Tundra is funky enough that I want one.

The REALLY short bed custom one off is even better.

Is that Ferd real? Not in 2017, anyway.

tis a custom jobber it turns out.

Long beds didn’t used to look so awkward since they were the norm. But now they’re sharing the extended cab+short bed chassis which are the norm, so they get the awkward wheelbase.
Mine:

Yep, I’ve seen that one too. That’s pretty cool. I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times I’ve seem a regular cab short bed 2nd gen Tundra in the wild. Even the long bed is fairly uncommon. The ones I see as work trucks all tend to be DoubleCabs. Why Toyota won’t standardize the cab style names between the Taco and Tundra is beyond me.

I just want a damn short cab, short bed, 4x4 truck with a V8 and a stick!
One of these days I’m just going to lose it and by an old Blazer.

So sad. Would buy without the slightest reluctance.

I’m with you. I love full-sized trucks with short cabs and short beds. They seem like the perfect platform for building liveable off road vehicles (I’m not really a fan of Jeep Wranglers, so SUVs are all we have available anymore, and the options are few anymore.). I have long wondered why nobody did 1-ton pickups with short cabs & short beds specifically targeting off road builds (lift lightly, put bigger tires on, add bigger bumpers, add winches, add diff locks, etc).

I have a friend who has 2003 Chevy 1500 rclb rwd, the 5.3 took a shit. Hereplaced it with a LS7. Last year he did a manual swap (T56) in. It’s crazy.

Yesssss. That is so perfect.
Actually, it also needs rocker protection, but close enough and easy to add.
![]() 08/22/2017 at 15:39 |

Those are 40 inch tires, so based on that I would say the rockers are a good 25 inches off the ground, it would take a lot to reach them.

I’d still want protection. If you’re going somewhere remote, you don’t want something ruining your day/week/etc...

Regular cab short box HD = “I’m gonna tow a whole lotta shit.”
Regular cab long box = “I’m gonna carry a whole lotta shit.”

even then, wouldn’t you want a long wheelbase for towing AWLS?
![]() 08/22/2017 at 17:13 |

I just tried to find a regular cab short box 3/4 ton pickup truck to compare its towing capacity spec to a long box. But nobody makes a regular cab short box 3/4 ton pickup truck.
According to the last post on this page of a forum thread, and some posts on the next page , that F-350 you posted was converted to a short bed after the fact.

I had to go with the single cab standard bed for my GMC it just felt right. Great thread by the way!!

I hate that you can’t get a shortie in fully loaded trim like the one you pictured above. It’s like a personal luxury coupe...only with a bed an 4x4.
